| Short description: | The objective of the Botany II course is introduction to plant systematics and taxonomy. The subject includes the theory and practice of plant classification. It also includes the characteristics of selected plant families. Participants acquire vast knowledge of plant systematics and species identification. |
| Full description: | Introduction to plant morphology and methods of plant structures classification. The theory of origins of plants. The characteristics of main prokaryotic organism (basics of bacteria, cyanobacteria and algae systematic) as well as groups and eukaryotic organisms: Fungi, Plantae. The structure, characteristics, development cycles and occurrence of mosses, and ferns. A systematic overview of selected families of Gymnosperms and Angiosperms. |

| Learning outcomes: | Knowledge The student has knowledge about prokaryotes, evolution and systematics of the plant world. The student understand the importance of plant taxonomy and systematics in modern world (environment and human economy). Skills Students can classify plants and recognize the main representatives of cryptogamic as well as higher plants. Students can recognize plants in their natural environment and provide proper selection of species for degraded areas recultivation. Social competences Student is aware of the need for lifelong continuing education. Understands the need to work in teams. Students know their responsibilities. |
